I had another job interview just yesterday. I do same basic mistakes everytime just because I forget how to prepare well. So I want to write this little list of things what not to forget. It will be focused on job interview to IT sector, but I think that these simple steps are applicable to every bussiness branch.
Before interview
Prepare answer to these questions:
- What did you do in your last jobs? What technologies did you use? What was your team?
- Why did you end your last job?
- What are your work plans to near future (depends on type of job internship: ~1 year, part-time: ~2 years, full-time: ~3 years)? Where you want to be in 5 years?
- What salary do you expect?
I actually never get asked most of these questions but is better to be prepared.
You should also be prepared to technical questions. You can’t prepare for general technical questions, but you should at least be prepared that it will come. If you had first round with some test of your skills, be sure that you go through all your answers and also question, because they will ask you about that additional questions.
What do you want to ask during interview
- When are you going to start eventually?
- Where are you going to work? How often in the office/home office?
- How many hours per week are you going to work?
- What is going to be your team? Your supervisor?
- How they will control your work?
Last and important thing: you are not there to beg for work, you are there to offer your services and to make an agreement with equal partner, not superior.
